Frankie is a handsome 11-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix.  With a light-brown brindle coat, set off by white paws, he is on the small side for a male of his breed.  He came to the shelter in May, as a stray, and still retains a bit of charming puppy exuberance.  A volunteer favorite, he loves to go for walks and play with other dogs.  Frankie is smart, loveable, and has a good temperament.  He would thrive in a home with room for his active personality.  Having spent far too much of his young life in the confines of a shelter, this friendly guy wants to find his place in your heart.
Burlington is a three-year-old miniature poodle/terrier mix.  Despite his rather formal-sounding name, he is a very low-key and friendly guy. We think he might have some Bedlington Terrier in the mix, which makes him look a bit like a long-ish lamb.  Found as a stray, he is well behaved, walks well on leash, and appears to be housetrained.  His upbeat personality makes him a favorite with volunteers at the shelter, and he reciprocates that affection.  While we would be thrilled for you to bond with Burlington, if he is not your cup of tea we currently have a number of poodle/terrier mixes in various colors, sizes, and genders.
Eden, a nine-year-old Chihuahua mix, also happens to weigh only nine pounds!  She came to the shelter as a stray in August.  Chihuahuas often live twenty years, so there is still plenty of love and life in this little girl.  Eden is already spayed, walks well on leash, and is housebroken.  As her photo attests, she is eager to give kisses (even to the camera) and is very affectionate.  She is quiet, yet friendly, and would be a wonderful addition to a new forever home this holiday season.  Adoption fees are discounted 25% all week for our featured pet, when you mention this announcement.

Cous Cous is a charming three-year-old Chihuahua mix who resembles a fox, perhaps indicating some Pomeranian in his background.  Gentle and affectionate, this little guy enjoys having his chin scratched and joyfully prances on his walks.  He is calm on leash and responds to the “sit” command.  If you are looking for a pet who loves to please, Cous Cous would be the perfect match for you.  Already neutered, he is ready to go home now.
Baby Doll is just that—a very sweet girl.  A smallish five-year-old Staffordshire mix, she recently arrived at the shelter when her owner could no longer provide care.  While shy at first and often found snuggled up with her blankets, Baby Doll warms up to dogs and people alike—wagging her tail and giving little kisses.  This quiet girl is housebroken, easy to walk, and knows “sit” and “lay down” commands.  Baby Doll is one of several friendly pit mixes, currently at the shelter, looking for new and loving homes this holiday season.

Cheesecake and Faddie are two beautiful cream-colored cats, abandoned after being taken to the veterinarian.  Being confined to a cage for so long has made them overweight, but otherwise they are healthy. Spayed and seven years old, they are presumably sisters.  While understandably a bit timid at first, they seem to get along with other cats, enjoy playing, and respond sweetly to people.  What they need now is love, exercise, proper diet, and perhaps better names to suit slimmer figures in future! Adoption fees are discounted 25% all week for our featured pets, when you mention this announcement at the Orange County Humane Society

Barney is a gentle 10-year-old Shepherd mix, who came to the shelter as a stray last month.  He is well behaved and enjoys his walks; he is good with people and other dogs, as long as they are not hyperactive or aggressive.  This friendly guy somehow lost his home and, when he looks at you with those liquid brown eyes, you wonder how that could have happened.  However, Barney doesn’t dwell on the past.  Now that he’s neutered, he’s ready to live out his golden years with someone who appreciates all his fine qualities.  Adoption fees are discounted 25% all week for our featured pet, when you mention this announcement.

The OCHS shelter often has rabbits, in addition to dogs and cats, and they make wonderful pets.  This week’s featured pet is “Harper,” an American White rabbit.  She is a funny bunny who is a bit feisty and protective in her cage but, once out, is very playful.  She likes cats and other bunnies, and her “sideburns” make her look a bit like a Billy goat!  Harper is litter-box trained.  In general, rabbits are fairly low maintenance and quiet pets; mostly, they just need love, exercise, and clean cages.   At present, we have five rabbits, of various breeds/colors, including a bonded pair and a grey lop-eared English rabbit.  No adoption fee is required for rabbits, but a donation of $25 is suggested to cover the cost of spaying/neutering.

Sherbert is a 2 1/2-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix, who likes to show she is as sweet as her name.  Found in June as a stray, Sherbert has been cooped up in a kennel far too long.  She enjoys playing with toys and, understandably, is very happy to get outside for walks with volunteers.  Although selective about canine friends, she is friendly with many of the other shelter dogs.  It appears she has had some training, as she is clearly housebroken and knows the sit command.  Sherbert is healthy and already spayed.  She is one of 17 pit bull mixes, currently available for adoption, and is eager to find a loving and active home to match her sweet personality. Adoption fees are discounted 50% for all adult pit bull mixes.
Koda is a beautiful seven-year-old Alaskan Malamute mix, who is a very mellow fellow.  He recently arrived at the shelter as a stray and became an immediate volunteer favorite.  For such a large dog (approx. 100 lbs), he is unusually gentle on leash and appears to be housetrained.  His healthy coat will look best with regular brushings.  Already neutered and not a barker, Koda exhibits a calm demeanor with other dogs.  He will even sit patiently for a “cookie” and then melt you with his soft brown eyes.  Adoption fees are discounted 25% all week for our featured pet, when you mention this announcement

Styles is an exceptional 8-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix, surrendered by his owners last month, when it was discovered one of them was allergic.  Their parting was especially sad, as this person suffered from epilepsy and Styles was apparently helpful in anticipating seizures.  Although shy when arriving at the shelter , he is now more playful and friendly.  He is energetic, yet shows no aggression, and knows how to sit.  Styles is simply a healthy, smart, and handsome boy.  He has been neutered and is ready to make a “stylish” entrance into a new and loving home environment.

Rambo is a 4-year-old Beagle mix who, unlike his name and camouflage jacket, is really a mellow guy.  He is friendly with adults and other dogs.  Rambo is already neutered, housetrained, and well-behaved on walks.  He flashes his warm Beagle eyes to invite petting and nuzzling by volunteers.  This little fellow originally arrived at the shelter in October; a brief stint in a household with small children did not work out, so Rambo is now eager to find a better match for his personality.
