Community Information

Huntington Beach, in Orange County, Southern California, is known for it's over 8 miles of great beaches, excellent surfing, and mild climate.  We get great waves because of the way the ocean swells go around Catalina Island (20 miles off shore).  Because of this surf, Huntington Beach hosts the annual US Open of Surfing and Beach Games - held annually in July.

We get our great climate and ocean breezes because the coastline actually faces southwest, meaning we also get some great sunrises and sunsets!  There are many places to visit around town.  Our cool city boasts a population of over 200,000 but it doesn't feel like it when hanging out anywhere in town.

Huntington Beach became it's own incorporated city in 1909 and got it's name from the original developer of the area, Henry Huntington (and they are still major land owners here). Our beaches include Huntington City Beach, Huntington State Beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach and Dog Beach.  There is plenty you can do along our beaches including biking, jogging, roller blading, skateboarding, beach volleyball, BMX biking, surfing, kite surfing or have friends join you for a fire in one of the many firepits along the beach - all things you can do here year round!

We host sporting events such as the U.S. Open of Surfing with the Beach Games, AVP Pro Beach Volleyball, World Championship of Skateboarding.  Also, you will find free concerts during the summer at the Pier, and in Central Park near the library.  Head on up to Main Street for many restaurants and plenty of night life with music and dancing, take advantage of Locals Night, or just hang out with friends.  If you've been to Main Street, you will know it is also great for people watching.

Our Parks and recreation offer plenty as well.  Besides one of the largest recreation piers in the world, we have a wildlife preserve with walking trails, nature center, marina (in Huntington Harbor), equestrian center with riding trails and stables, a disc golf (a cross between Frisbee & golf) course, and community centers with plenty of programs to sign up for.

Huntington Beach also has the reputation as one of the top ten safest cities in the United States, as well as high rankings for community services offered to citizens.  We have some great shopping opportunities around town as well as our own supply of fine arts with the Huntington Beach Art Center.  You can find museums and a superb library system.  The ratings for our schools are also high, making our school district very desirable for families looking to move in to the area.  We are also in the middle of a couple of great airports:  John Wayne in Newport Beach, and the Long Beach Airport.
